Top 10 Tech Trends for 2009 - by Baseline

Trends and top 10 lists -- love them.
Baseline has created a slideshow of their top 10 tech trends for the new year. Here they are:
  1. Software as a service. Cloud computing.
  2. Virtualization. This trend will continue. Software as a service (SaaS) will grow. Think of services like "desktop" applications, such as Google Apps and Zoho Office.
  3. Energy-efficient data centers. Data center hardware with virtualized systems. Less energy needed to power the centers. Green is good.
  4. Security, risk, and compliance. Automated.
  5. Enterprisewide mobility. Secure and synchronized. Will improve.
  6. Social networking will continue to grow. Grow customer relationships and internal teams.
  7. Web 2.0. Applications built on web technology will continue to prosper in new and cost-effiecient ways. [If you haven't taken a Learning 2.0 course yet, do it now!]
  8. Document management and eDiscovery requirements. Systems that retain, manage, retrieve documents quickly and efficiently.
  9. Project and portfolio management.
